The rollicking waters of the Rubicon.

Located near Thornton in Victoria, the water is near the one metre level. Just 2hrs away from home we had a great day frolicking on the rollicking waters of the Rubicon.

At 0.92m it was moving. Claire was first to spill, challenged by her new craft, but a swap over to her tried and true Gnarwal put things straight.

We practised our raft recovery skills, safely retrieving the Claire's packraft, guiding it on a taut rope across the river to the other side and returning its rightful owner. So she can work on her skills to tame the beast.

Foong felt alone and didn't want to stay on the other side. A ferry glide across and we are reunited.
Ferry gliding
No shame in spilling. Stuart went over slipping out of his thigh strap just when it was most needed, and impressed the party, including himself on his speed of recovery before the next suite of watery challenges.
Whitewater from the get go.
Laid across the river were a few obstacles. None of us wished to tackle these wooden obstructions head on.
Fortunately evasion was easy on the road alongside.
Portage, entry to river near pedestrian bridge
A farmer tried his best, with gates and high fences locked up like long bay prison, but we slipped through.
Gated fence

Forgive us for our trespasses, for we have sinned.

Climbing fence
Time to relax on the rural lands, but not for long as there is a mission to complete.
Cattle farm
We were misled. The path has ended in an abrupt mess of trees, abort, abort ! Re-route on land and we're back on course.
Portage in dense scrub

We crossed the Rubicon, and completed our mission with valour.

Negotiating rapids
All heroes rewarded with satisfaction and a smile. Heads up to the maintainers of Wikiriver, the description was accurate. https://wikiriver.com/victoria/rubicon2
